Emergency and Hospital
For emergencies, dial 911 and request the local fire department (BLR) is called for a medical assist. Opeongo Nordic does not have a fire route number or street address. The closest street address is 486 Drohan Road. Two volunteer firefighters live two minutes from the ski club.
The closest hospital is in Barry’s Bay, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, approx 40 minutes west of Opeongo Nordic.

Killaloe
Killaloe is the closest town to Opeongo Nordic, only 15 minutes north on Brudenell Road. You’ll find an LCBO (check the hours… they aren’t city hours!), Freshmart, Grandma’s Pantry, Killaloe Library, Summers Ford, Killaloe Village Pharmacy (Guardian Drugs, I.D.A.).
Suggested Weekend Itineraries
Budget but beautiful: Stay at “A Yurt in the Forest Airbnb” or Twin Wheels Farm B&B, lunch at Garth’s Kitchen, pick up dinner groceries at the Freshmart in Killaloe.
Comfortable and cozy: Stay at The Sands on Golden Lake, The Pinewood Inn in Barry’s Bay, or The Deakin’s in Killaloe, dinner at the Wilno Tavern or The Sands, pick up snacks at Grandma’s Pantry in Killaloe.
Do it all: Stay at Spectacle Lake Lodge, ski at Opeongo Nordic and at Algonquin Park’s Leaf Lake Trails, dinner at the Wilno Tavern or Spectacle Lake Lodge. Spectacle Lake Lodge is almost exactly centred between Algonquin Park’s east gate and Opeongo Nordic.
